Ibusuki is the place where spring comes early in Kyushu Island. Nishi Oyama Station where the course start, is the southernmost JR station in Japan.
A white lighthouse that stands at Nagasakibana where, according to the legend, Urashima Taro travelled to Ryugu Castle.
Approaching Mt. Kaimon called as Fuji of Satsuma, your mind will purify in Hirakiki Shinto Shrine, and there resides Satsuma Ichinomiya Shrine which is religiously worshipped deeply for traffic safety.

  • 1.JR Nishi-ooyama Station
    Nishi-Oyama Station is a railway station on the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line in Kagoshima Prefecture. The station was opened in 1960 and is unmanned. It is the most southern train station of all Japan Railways operated lines.

  • 2.Matsubayashi
    Follow the coast from Nagasakibana to Kaimondake to find a large pine forest.

  • 3.Kawashiri Coast
    A beach coast that extends for approximately 1km.

  • 4.Kaimon Sanroku Koryo Garden
    The first herb garden in Japan to be constructed in 1941. Here you can enjoy different herbs of the different seasons. There are perfumes and herb teas on sale too.

  • 5.Kagamiike
    A 8 hectare lake which is rounded like a mirror. This lake was created after the erruption of a volcano. If the conditions are good you can see a relfection of Mt. Kaimondake in the lake.

  • 6. Hirakiki Shinto Shrine

Natural Sand Bath

The waters of the onsen flow under the ground and out to the sea. The sand on top is warmed up by the onsen beneath and so you can be buried in the sand which is said to relaxing and good for health.
